Latest Leo McNeir book

I received this information too late for it to appear in yesterday’s newsletter.

Leo McNeir’s latest novel, the eighth in his Marnie Walker series, is to be launched on 16th April.

The book launch will be at an event arranged by a group of Leo’s readers at Cosgrove Village Hall, Bridge Street, Cosgrove, Northants, MK19 7JH. This is close to the Grand Union Canal and some people will be arriving by boat for the “Sally Ann Rally”.

The gathering will start at 4.30 with light refreshments and time to chat with Leo and others. This will be followed at 6.30 with a Sally Ann Supper picnic in the hall. Bring your own food and drink for the picnic.

  1. Hi Regina
Many thanks for your message via the Canal Shop Co website. Neil kindly forwarded it to Enigma who have in turn passed it on to me.
I’m sorry you can’t attend the actual rally, but a Cleo Laine concert is just too good to miss. I’m not sure if any boats will still be in Cosgrove afterwards, as I understand most will be travelling home on the Sunday. But I don’t think there will be very many as most people seem to be arriving by car.
It is indeed a splendid idea and was entirely dreamt up by boaters at Stowe Hill Marina. One journalist has already commented that she thought it was probably the first time a celebration had been organised by readers in favour of a living writer. It is all very touching and I’m looking forward to meeting readers old and new.
Yes, I’m sure we did meet at Saul. It was always a very enjoyable fesival and like you I lament that it is no longer running.
    Kindest regards,
    Leo

  2. Hi Leo.
Thanks so much for the invitation to the boat gathering and picnic at Cosgrove on 16th of April to celebrate the launch of your latest book. I will be sending a cheque for the new book but am unable to join you on Saturday as my husband and I will be in London for a Cleo Laine concert of songs inspired by Shakespeare.
I would have loved to bring a Marnie Picnic consisting of food which she ( and probably youself) enjoyed on her travels.
When I was at the Banbury Folk Festival last October I bought your previous book so with the new one I will be up tp date!!
My daughter and granddaughter live in Stony Stratford so we all know the stretch of canal in that area. Will some of the canal boats be at Cosgrove on Sunday or Monday as I would live to come to see them even though the party will be over?
Please keep me posted about how the party went and if I can visit sfterwards. I’m sure it will be a fantastic event – what a splendid idea!!!
I clearly remember meeting you at one of the Saul Folk/Canal festivals-what a pity it is no longer viable!

    1. Hello Regina
Many thanks for your comments in response to my posting about Leo’s latest book launch. He wouldn’t have known about the posting so I will pass it on to his publisher who can then forward it on to him.
      Neil
