About Us The Canal Shop Company is run by me, Neil Ratcliffe. I have been involved with canal shops for 20 years and with canals and boats for a lot longer. I would like you to be totally satisfied with the purchases that you make, and the service that you receive. Making A Purchase Browse through the catalogue and click the "Add to shopping cart" button for any items that you wish to buy. After you have finished shopping, click on "Order" and you will be asked for a few details that I need to be able to process the order.

I accept credit card payments. If you are outside the UK, your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.

I accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro & Solo cards. Charges will not be made until the items are ready for shipping. Back orders will not be charged for until they are ready for shipping.. You may send your credit card details by phone, mail or over the internet.

If you would rather pay by cheque, select the "credit card details sent separately" option and send the cheque instead.

After you have placed the order, the site automatically generates an e-mail acknowledging the order details, and lists your rights under the Distance Selling Directive. PLEASE REPLY to this e-mail to confirm that you are the person who placed the order.
Shipping And Handling Royal Mail first class post is used for all deliveries in the UK. International airmail for all overseas orders.

The shipping charge is worked out on the weight of the items. As the weight of items can vary (mugs and brass plaques especially), the charge you see will be the maximum charged. If the weight is significantly lighter, then I will alter the amount downwards. You will never be charged more.

For overseas orders where the weight comes to more than the maximum weight of 2kg, email me and I will let you know the cheapest way to split the order.
Delivery Schedule All items are normally sent within 24 hours of receipt of the confirmed order. I always personally email you to let you know when they are posted, and when you can expect delivery, assuming postal services are working normally.
Back Orders If any of your items are temporarily out of stock I will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the estimated re-stocking date and the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.

Post and packing charges will never be more than that quoted at the time of the order.
Tax Charges At present I am not registered for VAT, so no VAT can be deducted from your invoice for orders outside Europe.
Credit Card Security The shopping system used on this site is Actinic Catalog.

If you do not wish to send your card details via the online system, you are welcome to use any other method of your choice.
Guarantee I would hope that you are 100% satisfied with any product that you order. If you are not, or anything arrives damaged, then please let me know so that a replacement can be sent or a refund made.

Under the terms of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you have the right to cancel the contract to buy goods from this site, provided that notification is given in writing or by email (details in "Reaching Us" below) within 7 working days of receipt of the goods. This right does not cover magazines or video recordings unsealed by yourself.

After sending notification that you wish to cancel the contract, please ensure that the items are returned to me in good condition and at your expense, and a full refund of money paid to the Canal Shop Company will be made as soon as possible and within 30 days. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.

Privacy Policy The only information that I collect from you is that which is needed to process your order, (name, address, phone number, email address and credit/debit card details).

Unless you wish to be notified of future additions to the catalogue, the only emails you will receive from me will concern your current order.

I will never disclose order or customer details with any third party.

Cookies are used on this shopping site for two reasons, one to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item, and the other is for the "Remember Me" facility, so that you do not have to type in your details each time you order. The "Remember Me" facility is optional.Data collected by this site is used to:

a. Take and fulfill customer orders

b. Administer and enhance the site and service

c. Only disclose information to third-parties for goods delivery purposes
Returns Policy If any item that you have ordered arrives faulty or damaged, please email me with the details. A replacement will be sent usually within 24 hours of receipt of the email. Packaging and postage to cover the cost of the returned item will normally be enclosed with the replacement.

If you wish to return any items covered by the Distance Selling Regulations, then please email within 7 days of receipt of the item that you wish to return the item. Please ensure that the item is well packed and return the item at your cost. The cost of the item will be returned to you within 14 days.
