It is accepted that show people were the first to use caravans or living vans for their accommodation as they travelled around the country. Gypsies or Romanies soon followed suit. Smaller vans were made in their hundreds for workmen to use as temporary accommodation as they worked in the fields etc.

In this programme we look at a cross section of vans, some dating back over a hundred years. Filmed at the Dorset Steam Fair.
