In 1995 Chris Coburn decided to visit the then detached Lancaster Canal, going all the way and returning by water. This involved the River Mersey, the Irish Sea, Rriver Ribble, River Lune to Glasson Dock outbound.
The return route was Glasson to the River Dee and Chester involving a very long run at sea, sometimes 12 miles offshore.
The whole of the Lancaster is cruised and the detached Northern Reaches are visited. Running time 120 mins approx.

This DVD was originally prepared for Chris Coburn's illustrated talks. Slightly modified and with some extra unpublished footage added, the story is told of the "Adventure Cruises", which have developed a profile which has highlighted little used and disused rivers and canals.
The film is made up of clips of "Carry on up the Lune", "A canal too far", "Wash and go" and "The cut to Caernarfon", plus some unseen clips.

In 2002 Chris Coburn planned a trip from London to Inverness, by narrowboat! Despite careful precise planning, weather and events were to prove a handicap. The trip was re-routed to go to Huddersfield via the restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal. This is the story of that eventful trip and a visit to some lesser known navigations of the North West.
The trip commences in London, goes through the canal system to Ellesmere Port, then traverses the Manchester Ship Canal, River Irwell, Bridgewater Canal, Ashton Canal and finally the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. A detailed look is taken at the Stockport and Hollinwood Branches.
